Na Na Nativity

It’s the end of another year and to celebrate the excitement of Christmas, Norwich yfc creates a musical short film telling the story of the nativity in the style of ‘La La Land’.

The charity works with a group of young people to enable them to learn about the world of film production. From camera work to floor managing, acting to singing, on screen and off screen, there’s something for everyone.

My personal experience involved acting, filming and editing. I was given a variety of opportunities on and off screen and was a journey I will never forget. At the beginning of the process, when we were told we were doing a musical, I was concerned by how it would work, however, it took me by surprise by how it all came together to create an engaging version of the nativity.

Ben, who was our director and camera man has said, ‘Our Christmas film project has been a fantastic success. We’ve worked with an amazing team of young people who have given it their best to create something that we hope will reach lots of people.’

Sarah, who was our floor manager and assistant director has said,’ It’s become an annual event for us to make a Christmas film with a group of young people. This year was by far our most ambitious yet! The young people have been brilliant, worked hard, thrown themselves into it – even singing for the very first time for some of them. We’re really proud of the finished film and hope they are too! Seeing them learn & grow in confidence is what makes our jobs so worthwhile!’

The group are also planning on running a film school during February half term which will enable more people to get involved.
