Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism

The travel and tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. The value of tourism to the UK economy is approximately £209 billion, and the sector employs around 4 million people The travel and tourism sector is recognised globally as being fast-paced and dynamic, providing a range of employment opportunities both directly and indirectly across the world. There are many factors which can impact the sector and the organisations that operate within it. The use of technology and innovation means that the sector is at the forefront of emerging trends and developments, igniting our passion for exploring new destinations and providing exciting opportunities to learn more about the world we live in.

You will study:

  • The world of travel and tourism – you will investigate the importance of tourism to the UK
  • Global destinations – you will investigate the appeal and importance of different global destinations
  • Principles of marketing in travel and tourism – you will develop a successful marketing plan for use by travel and tourism organisations to attract and engage with customers
  • Visitor attractions – you will investigate in more depth this important area of travel and tourism

There are 360 GLH (480 TQT), equivalent to one A Level. The first three units are mandatory and 2 are externally assessed.

This qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare you for further study or training, at both Higher Education and employment.
